In Memory of
Lois (Carveth)Craddock,     81

June 5, 1937   ~   July 7, 2018

On Saturday, July 7, 2018, Lois Craddock, our Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Best Friend passed away at St. James Healthcare with her family by her side.

Lois or "Lo", as her friends and family knew her, was born on June 5, 1937 to Anne (Metully) and William Carveth in their family home on Plum Street in East Butte.   She often talked of growing up in East Butte and how much of an adventure it was living in the shadows of the Pittsmont Mine.   She attended grade school at the Harrison School and graduated from Butte High School in 1955.   Being an exceptional student she furthered her education by attending the Montana School of Mines, Montana State University and the University of Montana.   She was an avid reader and broadened her knowledge throughout her life.

On a cold (-47 degree), blustery day in January 1963, she married Percy Craddock in Holy Savior Church.   The happy couple set off for warmer weather by leaving Butte and traveling to Fort Ord where Perc was stationed in the Army.   They lived in Seaside, California, on the Monterey Bay.   The next year was spent on the California coast from San Francisco to Los Angeles.

Moving back to Butte after Perc’s discharge they started their family.   Over the course of the next seven years, Lori, Lynn and Mark were born.

Lo worked at Miners Bank and Skaggs Drug Store in Uptown Butte, and Earl's Modern Cleaners.   In 1980, she went to work for the Butte School District, working in most of the schools in town.   She retired as a school librarian at Emerson School in 1999.   She still chatted with "kids" that remembered her from school from time to time.

In 1976, Lo was diagnosed with MS, but it never defined her.   Some days she struggled but she never complained.

Her passion was her family.   She was always interested in what was going on in our lives.   She was always up for a game of rummy, and could be a gracious loser if need be but loved to "rub" it in when she won.   Some of the grandkids even suspected some "cheating" may have occasionally taken place.   She also enjoyed picnics, crossword puzzles and just taking a walk.   She enjoyed her lunches out with her friends.

Lo was preceded in death by her parents;   mother-in-law, Lucille Craddock;   cousins (who were raised with her), Rose Hussein and Gen Hunt;   grandson, Jacob Craddock;   niece, Diane McAuliffe;   and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ray and Lucille Russell.

Lo is survived by her husband, Perc;   daughters, Lori (Neil) McConnaha and Lynn (Joe ) Morris;   son, Mark (Tina) Craddock;   grandchildren, Bryan (Mallory), Kevin (April Graham), Kelsey (Clint Pederson), Josh and Riley McConnaha, Tyler (Katrina), Ryan (Megan Garber), and Nick Morris;   Kobi, Cameron and Kait Craddock;   great-grandchildren, Maisyn and Jensen Morris, sister and brother-in-law, Delores "Boots" and Don McAuliffe, and her dog "Aussie"

      "Until we meet again"

Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. Monday, July 23, at St. Ann's Church with Mass of the Resurrection to follow at 10.

Memorials: Shodair Children’s Hospital, P.O. Box 5539, Helena, Montana 59604;   or Shriner's Transportation Fund, Butte Masonic Temple, 314 W. Park St., Butte, Montana 59701.

Axelson Alternative Cremation is privileged to serve the Craddock family.
