He was born to Abraham and Ornelda (Gifford) Postma on July 28, 1942.

      Nelton was raised in the hard-rock mining in Uptown Butte and the Columbia Gardens.   He served his country in the U.S. Air Force.   As a twist of fate, life led Nelton to Stauffer Chemical in Ramsay during the late 1960s during the Anaconda Co. strike, where he was privileged to be one of the last employees.

      Nelton married Georgene (Koppo) and was devoted to her for 42 years.   Nelton is the proud father of sons, Wayne (Nancy) Logandale, Nev., Byron (Paula) Thornton, Colo.;   daughter, Marlene (Ryan) Missoula;   the love his life, his grandchildren:   Kristopher, Kyra, and Kennedy Postma, Kelcie and Kade Murphy, and Mikayla and Adrianna Postma.   Also surviving are his sister, Ornealo “Ann” Hastie and brothers, Tim Postma, Randy Postma, Clyde Postma, Henry Postma and Mark Postma.

      Besides his parents, Nelton was preceded in death by his sister, Nedra Postma and brother, Rodger Postma.

      Nelton thoroughly enjoyed the time spent with his family and more importantly his grandkids.   Whether it was on a Hawaiian cruise, or more recently with his close-knit family on an “Action Vacation” in the southern desert of Utah for his 70th birthday, Nelton was at peace.   Early in his family life, Nelton enjoyed handball at the Elks and coaching and participating in his kids’ athletic activities (or countless swim meets).   He learned to relax later in life and took up golfing and fly-fishing, which he had no patience for either.

      Nelton’s remains are in Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home where funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Thomas Haffey officiating.   Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery.   A reception will follow in Wayrynen-Richards Community Center.
