      Alfred Chris Sommer died July 3 at the V.A. Hospital in Long Beach, Calif..

      Alfred was born in Butte on May 14, 1938.   He was injured and became a quadriplegic on July 11, 1967.   He spent much of his adult life in Anaheim, Calif.   He was a 1956 graduate of Butte High School, attended the Montana School of Mines (now Montana Tech) and received a bachelor's degree in accounting from Long Beach State University.

      He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Freida and Al Sommer, and his brother, Eddie Sommer.

      Alfred is survived by his children, Janelle Sommer, Ladera Ranch, Calif., Scot Sommer, Newport Beach, Calif., Missy Grosser, Anaheim Hills, Calif.;   grandchildren, Brett Collings, Scot Grosser and Jessica Grosser;   sister, Yvonne Bailey, Tacoma, Wash.;   sister-in-law, Cari Sommer;   nieces and nephews, Lynn Bailey and his daughter Lacey, Holly and Paul Schrup and their son Maxwell, Donald Bailey, Dion and Linda Sommer and their children Alex, Lindsey and Liam, Alfred Sommer and companion Tracey Brazier and their son Brady Sommer, Danette and Mark Ogolin and their daughter Ashleigh;   and aunt Martha Bjorkman and family.

      Cremation has taken place and services will be held at St. Mark Lutheran Church on Monday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Chris Wareham officiating.   Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
