Andrew (Buddy) Smyth   73

      Andrew R. “Buddy” Smyth, 73, passed away Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 18, 2012, in a local hospital.

      He was born in Butte, on July 11, 1939, to Andrew and June (McKinnon) Smyth.   He attended the Franklin School and graduated from Butte High in 1957.

      He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force after high school and served at Lackland AFB, Malmstrom AFB and Ramey AFB in Puerto Rico for four years.   When his tour of duty ended he returned to Butte where he went to work for the Anaconda Co. (ACM).   He worked for the ACM until it closed in 1982.

      He later went to work at Warm Springs where he retired.   He also drove the Head Start school bus for over 20 years.

      Andrew married Diana Benoit in 1963, and they had two daughters, Pamela and Tammy.   They later divorced.   He married Sandra Andreas in 1976.   She survives.   Also surviving are his daughters and son-in-law, Pam Smyth of Everett, Wash., and Tammy and Marshall Bruns of Hamilton;   his sisters, Nancy Holm and Arlene Mickelson;   stepchildren, Steve and Karen Andreas, and Laurie and Pat Dobb;   and grandchildren, Brian Andreas, Marcus Andreas, Tyler Andreas and P. J. Dobb.   Cremation has taken place.   Memorial services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday in Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home with Deacon John Uggetti officiating.   Interment of ashes will be in Holy Cross Cemetery with military honors accorded by the United Veterans Council of Butte.

      In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shodair Children’s Hospital, the Montana Food Bank or the Paul Clark Home/McDonald’s Family Place.
