      Constance Marie Murray Centoni, 70, died in Seattle Sept. 22, 2009.

      Constance “Connie” was born Nov. 27, 1938, to Thomas and Vincentine Murray in Butte.

      Connie attended St. Mary’s grade school and graduated from Butte High School.   After graduating from the Butte Business College, she went to work for Metals Bank, where she met her future husband, David Centoni.   They were married Sept. 17, 1960, and had two children, Mark and Gina.   They later divorced but remained friends.

      Connie and David moved to Missoula in 1960, where they raised their family.   Connie went to work for the Western Acceptance Finance Co., in 1966.   She then began what was to be a long banking career at Southside Bank in 1972.   She worked at a variety of positions over the years, including vice president of operations at First Bank System in Missoula.   She left First Bank System (US Bank) in 1996.   She then went to work for Wells Fargo in 1996 and began a series of jobs in Missoula, Great Falls and Helena until retiring in 2004.

      During her career, she mentored many individuals and made lasting friendships.   Connie was very active in United Way and the Soroptimist Club of Missoula.

      After retiring, she stayed active and particularly enjoyed traveling, reading and being with her family.

      Connie was loved by all who knew her.   Her strength and determination were unmatched as shown throughout her life, but in particular her battle with her health in recent months.   She had a great sense of humor and there was not a day that passed when she did not enjoy a good laugh.

      Connie is survived by her son, Mark, wife, Elizabeth, and their children, Alexa and Nikhil of Palo Alto, Calif.;   her daughter, Gina Martin, husband, Marshall, and their children, Taylor and Keaton of Seattle;   brother, Thomas Murray of Tacoma, Wash.;   and sister, Patricia Murray of Spokane.   She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

      Her brother, Billy, and sister, Margie preceded her in death.

      In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place.   Liturgy of the resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2, at Christ the King Church, Missoula, with a reception immediately following.

      In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Western Montana.
