Obituary notice for
David Joseph Sullivan     73

      David Joseph Sullivan, 73, died on Monday, Sept. 12, 2011, in St. James Healthcare.

      David was born on Dec. 24, 1937, in Butte, the son of David and Catherine (Cullen) Sullivan.

      Dave attended St. Joseph’s Parochial School and graduated from Butte High School.   He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy.   He began working for his father at Sullivan Roofing.   He took over operation of the company after his father’s retirement.

      On Feb. 6, 1960, he married Lynn Carol Boyle in Butte at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.   They were blessed with three children, Terri, Vicki, and Dave.

      Dave was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing in the open spaces of Montana.   Deer wasn’t the only thing that David enjoyed hunting.   He enjoyed hunting for a good deal.   His shopping prowess was legendary.

      In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Sullivan, and his sisters, Ellen Kelly and Catherine Johnson.

      He is survived by his wife, Lynn;   his son, Dave Sullivan;   his daughters and son-in-law, Terri and Rick Abraham, and Vicki Sullivan;   and his grandchildren, Dr. Stephanie Abraham, Ryan Abraham and Victoria “Tori” Sullivan.   He is also survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Esther and John “Harp” Cody, Mary and Dr. Emmett Murphy, and Virginia and John “Dirks” Sullivan, and numerous nieces and nephews.

      Friends are asked to join the family after 1 p.m. Friday in the Duggan Dolan Mortuary Chapel, located on Meadowlark Lane.   Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. with cremation to follow services.   Private interment of ashes will take place in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
