Obituary notice for
Darlene (Miller) Norbury   71
04/02/1938 ~ 06/27/2009

Darlene Joy Miller Norbury died Saturday, June 27, 2009, in Butte.

Darlene was born in Butte on April 2, 1938, to Norman Miller Sr. and Dorothy (Schulte) Miller.   She attended school in Rocker through eighth grade and graduated from Butte High School in 1956.

Darlene married James Norbury on Nov. 7, 1964, and they resided in Butte her whole life.   Her children, Vaughn and Denise, were the joy of her life, where she was a Cub Scout den mother and softball coach, always cheering them on in all activities.

She enjoyed snow-mobiling and skiing in her younger years, and also enjoyed cross-stitching in her spare time.   She enjoyed watching softball games no matter who was playing.

Darlene and Jim helped raise their two grandsons, Cody and Zachery Norbury.   You would always find “Grandma,” as everyone called her, taking them to T-ball, baseball, school and soccer.   She never missed anything the kids or grandkids were in.

Mom (Grandma) was always taking care of everyone else, calling to make sure you made it home safe.

All of us who loved her came to know that was just mom taking care of her family and friends.   I will miss those nightly calls and so will all her family and friends.

We love you and miss you.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Norman Miller Sr. and Dorothy Miller;   and her brother Norman Miller Jr.   She is survived by her husband, James;   son Vaughn;   daughter and son-in-law Denise and John Knutson;   grandsons and granddaughters-in-law Cody and Brittany Norbury and Zack and Kim Norbury;   granddaughter Katerina Layman;   great-granddaughter Keira Norbury and baby girl Norbury to come;   brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Merlen and Elle Norbury, Ted and Shirlee Parini, all of Butte, Bill and Elizabeth Norbury of Hamilton;   and numerous nieces and nephews.

Darlene’s remains are in Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home, where friends may call beginning Tuesday at 6 p.m.   Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with interment to follow at Mount Moriah Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Shrine Hospital for Children or the American Cancer Society.
