Gary Don Parvinen   76

      Mr. Gary D. Parvinen passed away Saturday morning at his residence.   He was born in Biwabik, Minnesota, on July 7, 1938 to Arthur and Viola (Flaada) Parvinen.   The family moved to Montana when Gary was an infant, and he attended schools in Wise River as well as Butte.   He graduated from Butte High School and served his country in the United States Marine Corp.   Gary started as a meter reader and after 35 years of service was one of the last people to retire from the Montana Power Company.   He retired as a warehouseman on St. Patrick’s Day, 2000.   He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and served as treasurer for the Silver Bow Amateur Wrestling Association for many years.

      Gary married B. G. Gately in Butte on February 24, 1962, and she survives.   Also surviving are his sons and daughters-in-law Mike and Michelle Parvinen of Kennewick, WA; Mark and Jody Parvinen and Kevin and Pam Parvinen, all of Butte; daughter and son-in-law Kristi and Bill Osborne of Bremerton, WA; and grandchildren Chelsey and Andrew Buchanan, Devin and Kelsie Parvinen, Kaylee Parvinen, Amanda and Jake Banovich, Jenny Parvinen, Kyle Parvinen and his fiancée April Crowley, Aaron Osborne, Briana Osborne, Colby Osborne, Logan Parvinen, and Lindsey Parvinen.   Also surviving are his great-grandchildren Riley Osborne, Mackenzie Osborne and Shea Banovich.   Other survivors include his sister Cindy George of Sheridan, MT; sister-in-law Mary Ellen Shea of Butte; brother-in-law Denny Gately of Butte; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Bets and Gordon Johnson of Butte; sister-in-law Mary Ann Parvinen of Helena; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in Minnesota.   He is preceded in death by his parents Arthur Parvinen and Viola Koski, his brother Darryl Parvinen, great-granddaughter Brylee Banovich, his grandparents William and Lydia Hariu, and his aunt and uncle Ernie and Aune Flaada.

      Cremation has taken place.   Private graveside interment services will take place.   Memorials in memory of Gary may be made to the Highlands Hospice.
