Obituary notice for
John Clifford ‘Kip’ Dixon,   79
Nov. 19, 1937   ~   Aug. 26, 2017

      After several years of medical issues, John passed away peacefully with family at his side on Aug. 26, 2017 in Centennial, CO.

      John was born in Butte, MT on Nov. 19, 1937 to Joseph J. Dixon Sr. and Ann Ruth Pullum.   He graduated from St. Lawrence Grade School in 1952 and Butte High School in 1956.   After working for a few years at the Berkeley Pit and the Washoe sampler mine, he moved to Denver in 1959.

      He was a pressman at the Denver Post newspaper for 40 years, from 1959 until he retired in 1999.   John was elected a Union Stewart by his peers and eventually became Chapel Chairman for Local Pressman Union #22.

      He valued friendship and family ties. John enjoyed fishing and golfing.

      John married Kathleen Murphy in 1965 and they were blessed with a daughter, Sheila and a son, Timothy.

      Surviving John is his daughter, Sheila Fowler (David);   his son, Timothy (Karyn);   and three grandchildren, Thomas Elliott, Parker Dixon and Grey Dixon.   Also surviving John are his siblings, Joe Dixon (Pat), Joan Dixon, Frank Dixon (Judith), Mary Tucker (Richard) and his former spouse and friend, Kathleen Dixon, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

      He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Ann Dixon and his sister, Patricia Fawcette (Grant).

      We are saddened by our loss, yet thankful for family, medical professionals and hospice and for the peace he finally attained.

      A celebration of John’s life will be held 3 p.m., Sept. 9, 2017 at the Monaco Inn Restaurant, 962 S. Monaco Pkwy, Denver CO 80024.
