Joyce E. Garlinghouse of Cottage Grove, Ore., died Wednesday from cancer.

      She was born March 1, 1939, in Bismark N.D. to Walford and Hilma Harju.   She graduated from high school in 1957 in Butte.   She married Bill Garlinghouse in 1960 in Butte.

      Joyce worked in reception and accoounting for the Forest Service and volunteered at Cottage Grove Community Hospital.

      She enjoyed cats, gardening, concerts in the park, Cottage Theater, and the Art Walk.   She belonged to Cottage Grove Moose Lodge.

      Joyce was preceeded in death by her husband, Bill, in 1982, and a longtime friend Arthur Sullivan.

      Survivors include her brother, Norm Garlinghouse, Helena;   nephew, Don Harju, Fort Shaw;   nieces, Cheryl Dubia, Helena, Charlene Harju, Forsyth;   stepdaughter, Debra Carr, Orange, Calif.

      Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel, Cottage Grove, where the funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday.
