Obituary notice for
Joel Edwin Kangas

Joel Kangas, 66 Joel "JoJo" Edwin Kangas died Oct. 29, 2005, in Sheridan, Wyo.   He was born
Aug. 15, 1939, in Butte, to Edwin and Elsie Kangas.

Joel graduated from Butte High in 1957 and studied engineering at Montana School of Mines although his true passion was chemistry.   He couldn't continue due to finances and the family moved to farm in Waterloo.   He enlisted in the Army during the Vietnam War and was working on missile sites in Alaska during the 1964 earthquake.

After his honorable discharge, Joel worked for the Montana Highway Department and Mountain Bell.   Joel became very ill and took an early retirement.   He settled in Sheridan, Wyo., about 1983.

He enjoyed a cell phone received this summer and had it set up for speed dialing his many friends.   Some told him, "JoJo, don't worry you will never be living on the streets.   As long as I have a roof over my head, you will too."   Joel accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.   All his worries and cares are gone and he is in heaven, where there will be no more demons, pain and suffering.

Survivors include his sisters, Delores Kangas, Butte, and Francella Kangas, Gresham, Ore.;   numerous cousins including Susan Gerry, Butte,   Lorraine Karenen, Wolf Lake, Minn.,   Gwenda and Gwyneth Llewellyn, Seattle.

A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Champion Ferries Funeral Home, Sheridan, Wyo.   At Joel's request his ashes will be spread in the Tobacco Root Mountains and Upper Ruby Valley.   Memorials: Butte Rescue Mission.
