Mr. John J. Malmo, formerly of 3440 N. Hillcrest, Butte, passed away at his home, 13 Lower Dry Gulch, in Townsend, Wednesday.

      He was born in Butte on November 26, 1937 to George A. and Martha (Wills) Malmo.   He attended local schools, including the Blaine, and graduated from Butte High.   He also attended Western Montana College in Dillon, where he received his Master's degree as well as his teaching certificate.

      Mr. Malmo taught at East Junior High School for 28 years and also worked for over 20 years as a drapery hanger for Ossello's.

      He married Ellen M. Talbott in Butte on June 7, 1959 and she preceded him in death on November 16, 1988.   He recently married Patty Ann Blaisdell in Bozeman on February 26 of this year.   She survives.

      Also surviving are his children, John J. and Tana Malmo of Bremerton, Washington, James and Joanne Malmo of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Jerry Malmo of Washington D. C., and Jeanna and Mark Blomstrom of Lake Stevens, Washinngton;   his granddaughter, Jennifer Malmo of Bremerton, Washington;   his mother Martha Malmo of Butte;   stepdaughter, Linda Southhall of Townsend;   father-in-law, Alfred Talbott of Sheridan;   mother and father-in-law, Frank and Eleanor Blaisdell of Townsend; brothers-in-law, William Talbott of Bozeman and Richard Blaisdell of Townsend;   and sister-in-law, Ethel Casey of Benton City, Washington.

      John was a long time member of Trinity Methodist Church, served a short time in the Navy Reserve, was a past president of the Butte Plane Nuts, and was a cub scout leader.

      Mr. Malmo's remains are in Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home where friends may call Sunday evening.   Funeral services will be conducted Monday morning at 11 o'clock in Trinity Methodist Church with Pastor Robert Craver officiating.   Interment in Sheridan City Cemetery in Sheridan.   Memorials in memory of Mr. Malmo may be made to Trinity Methodist Church.
