Jerry R. Bowdler, of Port Orchard, died in Gig Harbor on Sept. 23, 2010.   He was 72.

      He was born on June 3, 1938 in Jasper, Ala. to James and Elizabeth (Davidson) Bowdler.

      He graduated from Butte (Mont.) High School and earned a football scholarship to Weber State.

      He married Maxine Buckman on Aug,. 11, 1962 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.   She preceded him in death.

      He worked as a union carpenter from the early 1960s until the mid-1990s.   He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

      He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

      He is survived by sons Mike (and wife Trisha) Bowdler and Rob Bowdler, both of Port Orchard;   sister Blossom Perry of Kalispell, Mont.;   and two grandchildren.

      Funeral services will be in Butte, Mont.
