Lorraine Agnes (Gilman) MacPhee   56

      Mrs. Lorraine Agnes MacPhee of 4817 Hope Road passed away Sunday evening in a Helena hospital.

      She was born in Butte, Tuesday, June 21, 1938 to Josh and Agnes (Lahey) Gilman. She attended local schools and graduated from Butte High School in 1956.   That same year she was among the first class of women accepted to the School of Mines, now known as Montana College of Mineral Science and Technology.   She graduated from Eastern Montana College with a degree in elementary education.   She taught in Dixon, Montana and later in Butte at the Kennedy, Emerson and Hillcrest schools.   Following this she had been the owner and operator of Under the Sun Restaurant.   Most recently she had been employed in administrative support for Westmont.

      Mrs. MacPhee was very active in the breeding and training of dogs.   She was a member of the American Kennel Club, the Montana Shih Tzu Association and had also bred and trained Rottweilers.   She enjoyed prospecting for sapphires and also liked to camp and fish.   She especially enjoyed music and reading.   She also belonged to the Butte Unity Truth Center.

      She married John MacPhee in Reno, Nevada in 1965.

      She is survived by her husband John Laughlin MacPhee of Butte;   son, John Angus MacPhee of Butte;   daughter, Catherine Jane MacPhee of Dallas, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, James C. and Chloe Gilman of Butte;   twin sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Keith Brown of Waterloo, Montana.   Also surviving are brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Alec and Mary MacPhee of Nova Scotia, Kay Campbell of Ontario, Nelda MacDougal of Nova Scotia, Angus and Theresa MacPhee of Nova Scotia, Neal MacPhee of Nova Scotia, Archie MacPhee of Nova Scotia and Anne MacPhee of Nova Scotia.   Numerous nieces and nephews including : Shirley Brookins, Joe Basar, Sam Al-Nouri, Joe Al-Nouri, LaRae Gilman and Jim Gilman Jr..   Numerous great nieces and great nephews also survive.   She was preceeded in death by her sister, Jane Basar and by her brother, Alfred Lee Gilman.

      Mrs. MacPhee's remains are in Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home where funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock.   Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.   Friends are asked to call beginning Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock.   In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Diabetes Association.
