Jan. 26, 1937   ~   Aug. 04, 2011

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and brother-in-law, Lawrence Joseph McManamon, 74, died peacefully at home on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2011.   He had been battling cancer for the past 11 months.

Joe, as he preferred to be called, was born on Jan. 26, 1937, in Butte, to Lawrence and Eleanor McManamon.   He was raised by his paternal grandmother, Cora McManamon.   Joe attended St. John's Elementary School and graduated from Butte High. He furthered his education at Montana Tech and Western Montana College.

At a young age Joe worked as a caddie at the Butte Country Club.   While attending high school he was employed as a box boy at Safeway.   After graduation he relocated to Colorado and worked as a salesman.   He returned to Butte in 1965 and was employed at Stauffer Chemical for 30 years.   Joe had a wonderful work ethic and boasted that he missed only one shift during his last 10 years at Stauffer.   After the plant closed Joe worked for School District Nr. 1 as a janitor for five years.

Joe and his first wife, Leona Phillip had three children, Michelle, Joe and Scott.   He found and courted his soul mate, Linda Waddell for five years until she agreed to marry him.   They were married at Zephr Cove, Nev., on June 19, 1985.

Joe was a very caring and loving person which is why he donated over 25 gallons of blood to the United Blood Services.   He also entered a clinical study for cancer patients at the Huntsman Cancer Institute knowing it may not help him but could possibly help others in the future.

Joe enjoyed reading, fishing, hunting, walking, traveling and celebrating the holidays with family, especially Christmas and the 4th of July.

He was preceded in death by his parents; uncles Joe McManamon, Gene Maloy and John Sagar; aunt Marjorie Sagar and great granddaughter Darlene Panatotoni.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda: aunt Lorraine Maloy; brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Joan McManamon; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joanne and Bill Gerry and Arleen and Jim Nichols; daughter Michelle McManamon (Don); sons, Joe McManamon and Scott McManamon (Bormie); grandchildren, Amanda, Lance, Steven, Shane, Jolene, Rebecca, Amy, Christine, Jacob, Michael and Ava; six great grandchildren; sisters-in-law and their spouces, Karen and Steve Sands, Laura Wine (Jim), Donna Haxby (Ed), April Sullivan, Paula and Joe Parini and Debbie and Bill Thomas; brothers-in-law and spouces, Bob and Martha Sweeney and Pat and Martha Sweeney; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Relatives and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday evening in the Duggan Dolan Chapel located at 1805 Meadowlark Lane.   Parish vigil services will be conducted at 7 p.m. in the mortuary chapel.   Liturgy of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Ann's Catholic Church.   Entombment will follow in Holy Cross Mausoleum.

Joe, you are locked in, honey.   Love Linda.
