Marlene Counter, age 81, passed away August 30th, 2019 in Butte, Montana.   She was born October 27th, 1937 in Butte, the youngest of three beautiful daughters, to Emmett Harrington and Gladys Kotch Harrington.

      Marlene grew up on the Flats and attended St. Ann’s elementary school and graduated from Butte High in 1956.   Marlene married George “Bob” Counter on July 20, 1963.   They settled in Butte and raised their three children.   Marlene worked as an elementary school aid throughout Butte’s School District.   On Saturdays she enjoyed socializing at local garage sales;   she was also a member of the Red Hat Society for many years.   Most of all, Marlene loved spending time with her seven grandchildren.   Marlene never missed a birthday or special occasion and was always certain to lovingly spoil her grandchildren around the holidays.

      Marlene is preceded in death by her father and mother, sisters Mary Lou Buer and Donna Micheletti, and son Tom Counter.

      Marlene is left remembered by her loved ones husband Bob Counter, son Dan Counter, Anaconda, son and daughter-in-law John and Sandra Counter, Columbus, MT, daughter-in-law Mary McCormick, Butte, grandchildren Max Counter (Daniella Mariana), Renae Counter, Hannah Counter, John Counter, Liam Counter, Pierce Counter, Tristian Counter, nieces Kathy Kraut and Lori Jorgensen, and sisters-in-law Judy (Jim) Davidson and Paula Counter.

      A celebration of Marlene’s life will be held at Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home, 1800 Florence Ave, Butte on Wednesday September 4, 2019, the family will start welcoming guests at 12 pm, services to start at 1 pm with a reception to follow.   The family would like to extend their appreciation to all the staff at Big Sky Senior Living on Waterford Way for all their loving attentiveness.
