Four Found Shot in Butte Trailer

Four persons were found shot to death in their mobile home at 724 Sampson in what police said appeared to be a triple murder and suicide.

Found by police in the home at the corner of Nevada and Sampson were Lyle Eliason, 37, his wife, Frances Rose "Nancy", 36, and their two daughters, Christine Marie, 12, and Marcy Ann, 10.

The girls were found in their beds in seperate rooms.   They were in their nightgowns and each had been shot once in the head.   Mrs. Eliason, also shot in the head, was in bed in the master bedroom wearing her nightgown.

Eliason was lying on the floor at the foor of the bed, fully clothed, with a bullet hole in his forehead.   A 22 caliber pistol was found near his hand.   Police said they found four spent shells and four live rounds of ammunition in the gun.

The killings apparently took place late Monday or early Tuesday.   Neighbors said they saw family members outside the home Sunday.   A Monday morning newspaper was inside the home, and police also found a prescription dated Monday.

Police were called to the scene by the mother of one of the dead.

Police said Eliason had recently left his job as a welding instructor with the Anaconda Job Corp Center.   He had secured another job in South Dakota and was supposed to leave this Sunday.

Police Chief Larry Connors said there was no apparent motive for the slayings.
