Gale R. Lester died Thursday in a local hospital.

      She was born Jan. 23, 1939 in Butte to Eino and Helen (Hill) Hakala.   She attended Butte schools.   She worked as a waitress and bartender mainly at the Helsinki Bar.   She enjoyed bowling and softball.

      She married William Lester in Butte on Jan. 26, 1957;   he died in 1990.   Her twin brother Walter Hakala also preceded her in death.

      Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Steve Lester, Butte, Bill and Shawna Lester, Fort Riley, Kansas;   daughters and son-in-law, Lori and Ted Serrano and Billie O'Keefe, all of Seattle, Nancy Jemmings, Butte;   grandchildren, Elena and Ron Nelson, Justin Blom, Victoria Sepulveda, Jameson Lester, Devin Lester, Arnold Lester, Nelson Lester, Damion Serrano, Moriah Sorrano, Ciana Lester and Alloynah Lester;   great-grandson, Wade Nelson;   sister, Geri Murinko, Butte;   sisters and brothers-in-law, Marylee and Al Lingenfelter, Butte, Hazel and Bill Turner, Libby;   brother and sister-in-law, Jody and Linda Hakala, Colorado Springs, Colo..

      Her remains have been cremated in Butte.   Memorial services are 11 a.m. Monday in Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home.
