Obituary notice for
Sonia Elaine (Isaacson) Clark,   78
Dec. 25, 1938   ~   May 11, 2017

Sonia was born on Christmas Day 1938, to Bert and Elenora Isaacson in Butte.   She graduated from Butte High in 1956 and attended Pacific Lutheran College in Tacoma, Washington.   In 1958, she married her high school sweetheart, Jim Clark, and they moved to San Francisco, where she tried her hand at being a Navy wife.   While in San Francisco, she worked at Bank of America, which made this small-town girl feel very proud of herself. Moving back to Montana in 1959, Sonia and Jim settled in Bozeman and began to raise a family with the birth of their first daughter Julie.   Soon, the family settled in Billings and found a permanent home full of friends and family.

Sonia was an adventurous, kind-hearted soul.   She loved skiing with her children and grandchildren, horseback riding, whitewater rafting and hiking and camping in the Beartooth Mountains.   An avid traveler, Sonia and Jim visited all 50 states and 25 countries.   Sonia was a fun-loving spirit who relished laughter and sharing stories and fond memories.   She had many friends, including her sewing club, exercise and coffee friends and The Hoe Downers Square Dance Club.   Sonia was a devoted and compassionate mother, daughter, sister and companion.   She was a proud and adoring aunt.   Sonia enjoyed a deep faith and was a member of American Lutheran Church for 55 years.

Sonia is survived by her loving husband and companion of 65 years, James W. Clark;   her children, Julie, Paula, Janet and Michael;   her grandchildren, Jeannine, Levi, Christine, Dalton, Cole, Laura and Chloe;   and great-grandchildren Jordan, Jack and Luna;   her sister Karen, brother-in-law Jim and her niece Erica.   Sonia will be delighted to be reunited with her precious granddaughter Willa Shine in Heaven.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 15, at American Lutheran Church, 5 Lewis Ave.   In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to American Lutheran Church.
