Steven Joseph Walks, 71, died on June 09, 2009 at his home in East Helena after a courageous battle with cancer.

      Steve was born in Billings on April 08, 1938 to Robert and Mary (Auker) Walks.   Steve worked in various fields from logging, mining, mechanics to most recently tow-truck driving.

      Steve will be dearly missed by his family and friends.   He has touched the lives of many people.

      Steve is survived by his wife and life partner of 48 years, Carolyn "Betty" Walks;   his five children, June Walks, Steve (Tina) Walks, Janice (Dave) Pratt, Bill (Janel) Walks, Scott (Joanna) Walks;   10 grandchildren; one great-grandson;   sisters Bertie (Fran) Sherman, Sylvia (Duane) Larson;   brothers, Dave (Linda) Walks and Ron (Hue) Walks.   Steve is preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a brother.

      Steve will be cremated, and a service will be held on Sunday, June 7, with reception to follow, at East Helena United Methodist Church, on the corner of Prickly Pear Ave. N. and East Riggs at 3 PM.   The family asks that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the Cancer Treatment Center of St. Peter's Hospital, 2475 Broadway, Helena, MT 59601.
