Obituary notice for
Sharon (Wilcox) Carlyon   73
Sep. 04, 1939   ~   Mar. 03, 2013

Sharon Carlyon, 73, succumbed on March 3, 2013, to cancer after an extended battle.   Private family services will be held Friday, March 8.

Sharon was born on Sept. 4, 1939, to Kenneth and Eleanor Wilcox in Helena.   She married the love of her life, Tom Carlyon, on April 30, 1957, in Deer Lodge.   Mom enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, floating and most significantly assuring there was a huge bonfire to tend while camping.

Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, rides with her husband, and was an ever-present force at her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren’s sporting events.   No one could equal her cheering!   She was the quintessential Mother and Grandmother — never at a loss for words and ready with a loving hug even when things did not work out.   She was an absolute perfectionist when it came to any craft she set out to make — gorgeous afghans, beautiful quilts, sweaters, socks — you name it — she did it.

Every one of her children and grandchildren received the gifts of her talents and love whether it was a craft or just her loving touch on a bad day.

There was no greater cook on earth than our Mother.   Her specialties were canning all types of foods, divinity, potato and macaroni salad, pasties and last but certainly not least, povitica.   “If you left Grandma’s house hungry it was your own fault.” Mom’s creed was always “Family First” and “Family is the most important thing in any life.”   She practiced what she preached in everything she did!   Quick to offer advice and ever ready with a hug and kiss to make things better — she was the true definition of “Mom!”

We will miss Mom’s many talents and the love she so readily spread throughout her life.

Sharon is survived by her loving husband, Tom;   five children — Tim and Laura, Tomme and John, Toby and Tammy, Tracey and George, and Stacey and Jeff;   siblings, Bev and Fred Juarez, Kenny and Joyce Wilcox, and Wendy and Chris Tippett.   She also had eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren that were the apple of her eye.   She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.   Whether she was Mom or grandma, she will always be on our minds — we will miss you forever!

Please express condolences to the charity of your choice.

Axelson Alternative Cremation is privileged to serve the Carlyon Family.
