Jim and I were married in 1957. We have four children, Connie, Carol,
Jeff and David. Between them they have given us six granddaughters and
four grandsons, and one great-grandson.
Jim worked for the Anaconda Company
and I worked for a short time
for Texaco and for the Montana Power Company. Jim’s job at
the
Claims Office was terminated in January after a long strike. We moved
in 1960 to San Carlos, California, 25 miles south of
San Francisco where Jim’s parents had moved several months
before
and his grandmother lived in the area. Jim worked 36 years for the San
Carlos Post Office before his retirement.
I worked as a keypunch operator (now
there’s an old word) for San Mateo County Superior Court and
Elections Department. Several
years here I was a permanent employee and some years part-time while
we were raising the children. I took classes for programming and
eventually was manager of the Data Entry Division of GTE Lenkurt in San
Carlos for 11 years until it relocated out of state. I returned to San
Mateo County Superior Court as a Legal Office Specialist,
preparing documents and court calendars for the Probate and
Conservatorship
judges. I retired in 1999 from that position and I returned to work
immediately for 3 days a week as a Legal Assistant for an attorney who
prepared Estate Planning Trusts and Wills.
In 2001 we sold our home in the Bay
Area and had a new home built here
in Roseville. We assisted our daughter and her husband with their twin
daughters who were born that January. We now enjoy all our children and
grandchildren. Jim enjoys bowling and his yard work. I do a little
creative sewing and enjoy contact with several of my classmates through
the internet. We both enjoy traveling to different
states for our vacations along with making our annual trip to Montana
to visit our family and friends.
