Karen Schiesser (now known as Karen Sargent Rachels)

Karen Sargent was my stage name after I left BHS for Broadway. I spent 10 years in New York on the stage, summer stock and National tours, and then 10 years in Hollywood behind the cameras working as an Associate Producer for Ralph Edwards (Name That Tune, Truth Or Consequences, among other shows) and Kenny Rogers (The Gambler, Coward of The County and several TV specials).

After retiring to Big Bear Lake, California, I started a community theater called CATS: The Community Arts Theater Society. I have produced and directed over 50 Broadway shows and musicals and have built our own theater here in Big Bear. We have an all volunteer group of several hundred people, and our productions feature "kids" as young as 4 and as old as 90. Please see the web site at www.bigbeartheater.org.

My wonderful mom, Jean Schiesser passed away in 2010. She was an active, founding member of CATS until her death at 93 years old!
