After graduating, I
joined the Navy & went through
hospital corp school. Worked in Navy hospitals for one year.
Transferred to Marines as a medic overseas in the Far East where I
served with the
Fifth Marines Recon. 3rd Div. First Marines in Viet Nam in 1959 as
advisors.
After the service, went to college in Los Angeles &
studied PreMed.
Couldn’t afford to finish, so, bummed the country for a year ending in
Houston, TX where I went through a mortuary college for 2 years &
became a mortician for 20 years. I mostly managed the Funeral Home. I
was licensed in Montana, Colorado, Minnesota & Idaho where after 20
years as a mortician I finally got burned out.
I’ve been married 4 times, the 4th being the love of my
life for over the last 20 years. I have 4 children - 2 boys and 2
girls; 7 grandchildren - 4 boys & 3 girls.
While in Salmon for over the last 20 years, I have worked
with USGS
mapping the entire Mountain Range around Salmon. Worked with Idaho Fish
& Game & retired after 10 years. I started my own cookie &
chip distributorship which I retired from in 2000. I also was with the
Northern Idaho Ski Patrol for 7 years.
Now retired, I maintain 3 part-time jobs - maintenance
tech for 36 unit
apartment complex, help a friend in his insulating business & I
work for Fish & Game checking the creel count of steelhead
fishermen up
& down the mighty Salmon River.
