Richard William Head Jr. passed away Monday evening, Sept. 17, 2012, in a local hospital.

He was born in Butte March 14, 1939, to Richard W. and Genevieve (Custin) Head.

Rick was raised in East Butte by his grandmother, Parnell Marshall, and attended
local schools, graduating from Butte High in 1958.   He joined the U.S. Navy
after graduation and following his discharge returned to Butte where he started
his 36-year career as an independent jobber for Meadow Gold Dairy.   Rick
operated A-1 Dairy in the very early hours, but needed more to do during the day
and proceeded to operate A-1 Towing, A-1 Body Shop, A-1 Wrecker Service, A-1 Cedar
Rail Fencing, A-1 Satellite, Pools and Spas and also offered his weed spraying
services as well as snow plowing.

Suffice to say, Rick wasn’t afraid of hard work, but played just as hard, enjoying
boating and jet-skiing on several area lakes.

He and Marlene were married July 26, 1986, in Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and she
survives.   Also surviving are his sister and brother-in-law, Norreen and Dale
Plattner of Springfield, Ore.;   his cousin, Dave Marshall of Polson;   and
several nieces and nephews.   Besides his parents, Rick is preceded in death by
his sister, Margie Hangerford.

Cremation has taken place.   Memorial services will be conducted Tuesday,
Sept. 25, at 11 a.m. in Gloria Dei Lutheran Church with Pastor Adam Barnhart
officiating.   Interment of ashes will take place in Mount Moriah Cemetery.

In grateful recognition of all the help the Veterans Administration has been to
Rick, any memorials in memory of Rick may be made to the veteran’s service
organization or the donor’s choice.
