Oct. 16, 1935   ~   Jan. 27, 2014

Wallace Rand Johnson, 78, of Butte, passed away Jan. 27, 2014, in Bozeman.

Wally was born Oct. 16, 1935, in Butte to Harry and Alice (Rand) Johnson.   He attended Harrison Elementary and graduated from Butte High School.   He worked the Butte mines from 1955 to 1959 and then as an electrician for Burlington Northern Railroad from 1960 to 1997.

On Sept. 20, 1957, Wally married Jeanne Miller.   The couple had two daughters, Janelle and Janice, and a son, Gerald.

He loved bowling and the outdoors, particularly camping, skiing, and fishing.   He was also an avid car enthusiast.

He fought a hard fight with diabetes.   His battle was valiant but his love of family and friends was endless.   We were so blessed to have one last great holiday.

Wally was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Alice Johnson and his brother, Keith Johnson.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Marie Johnson;   daughters, Janelle Johnson and Janice (Gary) Berg;   son, Gerald (Heidi Hooten) Johnson;   sister, Edna Goodman;   ex-sister-in-law, Jeanne Anne Johnson;   grandchildren, Andrew Berg, Jason Berg, and Jessica Johnson;   several nephews and nieces;   numerous cousins in southern Minnesota;   and his beloved black Lab, Zorro;   as well as his loving cousins and friends, the Parret family.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

At the request of his family, memorial donations can be made to the National Diabetes Foundation.

Arrangements are in the care of Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service.   Express condolences at www.dokkennelson.com and www.mtstandard.com/obits.
