Obituary notice for
David V. Hanni   71

      David V. Hanni passed away at his residence on Wednesday morning Oct. 3, 2012, in the care of his loving family.

      He was born Aug. 5, 1941, in Butte to Arne P. and Mary J. (Gardetto) Hanni and attended Harrison Grade School before graduating from Butte High with the class of 1959.

      Dave served his country honorably from 1960 to 1964 with the U.S. Air Force stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.   Following his discharge, he worked as an emergency service tech for two years.   He returned to Butte in 1966 and in 1967 began a 35-year career with Victor, later known as Stauffer Chemical.   After leaving Stauffer, he worked for the Head Start program as a bus driver.   He loved being around all the little ones, and would often remain at the school, helping out, after he completed his route.   He retired fully in 2011.

      He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Butte Aerie 11 where he served as treasurer and had been honored as “Father of the Year.”   He was a very avid golfer at Highland View Golf Club.   He loved to follow the Red Sox and was a devoted “Griz” fan as well as an avid bowler and a longtime member of the U.S.B.C.

      Preceding Dave in death was his father, Arne Hanni.

      He is survived by his son, Dan Hanni of Butte and his grandson and best little buddy, Konner Hanni of Butte;   mother, Mary J. Hanni of Butte;   and his ex-wife and dear friend, Robbie Hanni of Butte.   He is also survived by brothers and sisters in law, Ron and Susie Hanni of Butte and Loren and Vicky Hanni of Butte;   sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and Bill Howald of Sparks, Nev.;   as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends.

      The Hanni family wishes to give special thanks to Highlands Hospice especially nurses, Julie, Chris, Jenny, Karen and Lynn and asks that memorials be made to Highlands Hospice to help them in providing care for other area families.

      In accordance with Dave’s wishes his remains have been cremated at Butte Crematories.
